  • Which Record Player Should You Choose? A Guide by Listening Style

The right record player depends less on a long specification sheet than on your records, your room and the equipment you already own.

    For a first record player

Choose a stable player with a replaceable stylus and straightforward controls. Built-in speakers remove the need for a separate amplifier, while 33, 45 and 78 rpm support gives you more freedom if you own older records. A portable model such as LOEVA is convenient when space is limited.

    For an established collection

Look for adjustable tracking, a quality cartridge, regular platter speed and a dust cover. A line or RCA output also lets you connect a larger hi-fi system later. Our hi-fi record players are designed for this more demanding use.

    For your room and routine

A suitcase player is easy to move, while a wooden model with a dust cover suits a permanent living-room position. Keep the player on a stable surface and away from speaker vibration. If appearance matters, compare our vintage-style record players.

    Plan for future upgrades

RCA outputs, Bluetooth and USB recording can extend the useful life of a player. Check whether Bluetooth sends record audio to a speaker or receives music from a phone, as these are different functions. Read our Bluetooth connection guide for details.
