Description
A retro record player makes an impression before you even hear it. This one centres on a bright golden honey finish, two brass knobs and a transparent dust cover: three considered details, with no screen or flashing lights.
A retro record player that brightens the room
The colour is bold and distinctive: a warm honey shade that looks almost amber in soft side lighting and turns golden yellow in daylight. Unlike dark finishes designed to blend into the background, this retro record player catches the light and becomes a warm focal point, especially against a white wall, black console or neutral bookcase.
Two brass knobs sit on the right-hand side of the front panel. Their gold tone complements the cabinet rather than competing with it. There is no oversized manufacturer name beside them, giving the player the look of a carefully chosen interior piece rather than an entry-level appliance.
The lighter colour also changes how large the player feels. Dark cabinets can appear heavier and dominate a small piece of furniture, whereas golden honey visually softens the outline. On a narrow chest of drawers or office shelf, it takes up less visual space than an equally sized dark model — a practical benefit in a studio flat or bedroom.
Why the dust cover matters
The transparent dust cover lifts for placing a record and closes between listening sessions. Dust settles on the platter, moves into the grooves and collects beneath the stylus, gradually wearing it with every rotation. As a retro record player is usually displayed in a living space rather than stored in a closed cabinet, the cover is its most effective everyday protection.
It also preserves the visual pleasure of vinyl. You can still watch the platter turn and the tonearm travel towards the centre — part of what makes playing a record so different from starting a file on a phone.
Automatic stop: discreet protection for your records
At the end of the final track, the stylus reaches the run-out groove and would otherwise continue circling. The automatic stop function halts the platter at the end of the side, protecting both the record and the stylus if you leave the room or forget to lift the arm.
It is the kind of feature whose value becomes clear over time. On a player used regularly by several people, it prevents much of the unnecessary wear caused by distraction.
Connections for every time of day
The built-in stereo speakers provide instant listening: place a record on the platter, turn up the volume and fill the room without needing an amplifier or separate speakers. Explore our record players with built-in speakers. A front-mounted headphone socket makes private listening easy when the hour or your neighbours call for it.
Bluetooth receives music from your phone and plays it through the same speakers, just like our other wireless models, so the player remains useful between records. The AUX input accepts a wired source, while the RCA output connects to an amplifier or active speakers. This places the model alongside our hi-fi record players and lets your system grow without replacing the source.
The three speeds cover 33⅓, 45 and 78 rpm, and the platter accepts 7-, 10- and 12-inch records, from albums and singles to older pressings that many modern players cannot handle. A 45 rpm adaptor is included.
Nothing needs adjusting before the first listen: the cartridge is fitted and there is no counterweight to balance. It is ready within five minutes of unboxing, making it equally suitable as a first turntable or a gift that can be enjoyed without a complicated set-up.
With its golden honey finish, transparent cover and automatic stop, this retro record player combines display-worthy design with practical record care. Compare other finishes and formats among our vintage record players or browse all our record players.
What our customers say
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to buy anything else to play my records?
No. LENA has built-in stereo speakers, so it plays your records on its own. Plug it in, put a record on and lower the arm.
Can I connect it to a Bluetooth speaker or headphones?
No. On LENA, Bluetooth works the other way round: it receives music from your phone and plays it through the built-in speakers. To play your records through other speakers, use the RCA output with the cable supplied. For private listening, use the headphone socket.
Can I plug it into my hi-fi, powered speakers or soundbar?
Yes, through the RCA output: connect it to an amplifier or a pair of powered speakers with the RCA cable supplied. A soundbar only works if it has an analogue input (AUX or RCA). Not sure? Tell us what you already own on the Contact page and we will check before you order.
Is there anything to set up before the first record?
No. The cartridge is already fitted and the arm needs no adjustment. Take it out of the box, plug it in and play.
Does it stop by itself at the end of a record?
Yes. The platter stops turning once the record has finished.
Which records can it play?
12-inch LPs, 7-inch singles and 10-inch records, at 33, 45 and 78 rpm. The 45 rpm adaptor for singles is in the box.
What sound should I expect?
Built-in stereo speakers, so it plays on its own. For more volume and bass, connect LENA to bigger speakers through the RCA output.
Will it damage my records?
No. LENA plays your records without damaging them. Keep your records and the stylus free of dust, and replace the stylus when it wears: a worn stylus is what marks a record.
Can the stylus be replaced?
The stylus is a wearing part. When yours needs changing, message us from the Contact page, mention LENA, and we will tell you which replacement fits.
What is in the box?
The LENA record player with its cartridge fitted, its clear dust cover, an RCA cable, a 45 rpm adaptor and the mains adaptor.
How is LENA different from the other Bireka record players?
LENA is an all-in-one with built-in stereo speakers, a headphone socket on the front, three speeds and nothing to adjust. Not sure which one suits you? Tell us what you already own on the Contact page and we will point you to the right model.
When will I receive it, and what does delivery cost?
Delivery is free in the United Kingdom. Orders leave within 24 to 48 hours (excluding weekends and bank holidays) and then take 5 to 8 working days to arrive: allow 6 to 10 working days in total. You receive a tracking number as soon as your parcel is dispatched.
What if it does not suit me, or arrives faulty?
You have 14 days from delivery to ask for an exchange or a refund. If it arrives damaged or develops a fault, message us from the Contact page with your order number: every Bireka record player is covered by a two-year warranty.
